Sacramento Community Concerts: GENE KRUPA ORCHESTRA & THE FOUR FRESHMEN
Date: 04/08/10 8 p.m. Description: Sacramento Community Concerts closes out their 2009-10 season with a performance by the Gene Krupa Orchestra and The Four Freshman on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 8 p.m. at the Sacramento Community Center Theater. Conductor Michael Berkowitz first heard his idol, Gene Krupa, perform in 1964, and Krupa was kind enough to spend a few minutes with the aspiring drummer. After a varied career, Berkowitz became conductor of the Gene Krupa Orchestra, bringing the Krupa magic back to life for a whole new generation. Joining the orchestra will be The Four Freshmen. The vocal jazz ensemble has played nearly every college campus in the United States, performing in all 50 states and also in 44 countries.
